| Title: DIGITAL ANIMATIONS Year: 1995 Type: Animation / Video / Ascii |
Back in 1995 I started experimenting with digital animation techniques, mostly based on rotoscopies and frame by frame video. This first series of animations started as videos shot by Rachel Gibbs, Michael Connor and I, for our creative project called "The Cartel" at the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU. We called them "gifmations" and started including them into s eries of experimental visual texts ( unfortunately we have no record of them. Then I started experimenting with Video and Director, creating a series of small video-performances shot on the ledge of the Tisch building's fourth floor. Again, this is the only one that remains. And finally I started experimenting with HTML and the "refresh" property in order to create ASCII animations based on text representations of a series of frames. |
